Commercial Building Seismic Strengtening

Seismic strengthening of a commercial building in Christchurch. The building had structural steel portal frames in the transverse direction and precast wall panels in the longitudinal direction reinforced with non-ductile mesh. The building was strengthened as follows to achieve >67%NBS.
- Installation of new fly braces to transverse portal frames to increase the bending capacity of the rafters.
- Installation of structural steel beam restraints to the external precast walls to increase their out-of-plane capacity.
